Bible Verse Stickers: 8 Ways to Use Them (Beyond the Margin)

• Faith • Stickers and Washi

A verse sticker does one job a highlighter cannot: it puts a single verse where you will see it without opening anything. That is the whole point of it, and it is why one well-placed sticker tends to matter more than a decorated page.

Here are eight places a verse sticker earns its spot, and a short way to choose which verse.

Start with one verse for a season

Pick the verse you need to hear for the next few months, not your favorite of all time. Two that cover a lot of seasons:

  • For uncertainty, a move, a new job, a graduation: Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," on a lavender note design.
  • For identity, comparison, a hard year with a daughter or with yourself: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, from Psalm 139:14, with blue butterflies.

Eight places to put it

1. Inside the front cover of your Bible. You see it before you read anything else. This is the one placement that never competes with the text.

2. The first page of a prayer journal. It sets what the journal is for. If you are starting one, how to start a prayer journal walks through the pages.

3. The dashboard of your planner. The page you open to every morning. A verse there gets read more often than one in a Bible that stays on the shelf until Sunday.

4. A scripture writing notebook. On the cover, as the theme for the month. There is a free plan in what scripture writing is and how to start.

5. Your water bottle or tumbler. The verse goes with you into the day. Vinyl holds up to handling; wash by hand around it.

6. A laptop or tablet case. For the hours that have nothing to do with quiet time and probably need it most.

7. A card for someone else. On the envelope flap or inside the card. A sticker they can peel and keep is a small gift on its own.

8. A faith junk journal page. As the focal point, with paper and washi built around it. See faith junk journaling for page ideas.

What to avoid

  • Thin Bible pages. A vinyl sticker is heavier than the paper. Keep it to the covers, the presentation page or a tip-in card.
  • Covering text you will want later. Margins fill up. The inside covers do not.
  • Ten verses at once. One verse you actually read beats a collage you stop seeing.

As a gift

A verse sticker tucked into a card is one of the few gifts under $5 that does not feel like an afterthought. For a baptism, a graduation or a friend in a hard stretch, pair one with a note about why you chose that verse. For a larger gift there are more ideas in gifts for Christian women who journal.

For a small group or a Sunday school class, any five die-cut stickers come to 20% off at checkout and any ten to 32% off, or you can order the Build Your Own Die Cut Sticker Pack and list the designs you want.
